If you’re looking for our top favorite restaurants in Mystic and something super casual and classic New England, you can’t beat Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough. It’s tucked away in Noank Village, and it’s the kind of place where you can sit by the water, crack open a whole lobster, and bring your own bottle of wine. Super relaxed and super tasty. If fried seafood is more your vibe, check out Costello’s Clam Shack (right down the road from Abbott’s) or Sea View Snack Bar. They’ve got that classic no-frills charm, with fried clams and scallops that are absolutely delicious.
For something a little more polished but still laid-back, Red 36 is perfect. It’s right on the water, and their lobster rolls and oysters pair so well with a cocktail—especially if you’re there at sunset! S&P Oyster Co. is another great spot with a view, right next to the Mystic River Bascule Bridge. If you’re an oyster lover like me, you have to try theirs.
Now, if you’re in the mood for something special, Mystic has two amazing upscale spots: Oyster Club and Shipwright’s Daughter. Both are led by James Beard Award finalists, and their seasonal, locally sourced menus really showcase the best of New England’s seafood. It’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.
So, while it’s tough to pick just one favorite restaurant in Mystic, I hope this little post helps you find your ideal seafood spot when you visit Mystic!

“The 1784 Denison nautical retreat was a rare find. As a lover of history and historical homes this was right up our alley. The home was tastefully decorated to the period of the house along with all the modern amenities one could ask for. The charm of the whole place was perfect. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and the playground close by as we had our granddaughter with us! We will definitely be back!” Marlene W. (Thank you, Marlene, and we loved hosting you all:)
